PLAYER TO WATCH In her second season with the Jaspers, Brianna Davis has established herself as the primary scoring option for the Green and White. Given preseason recognition as a Preseason All-MAAC Third Teamer, her 11.9 nightly average (as of 1/16) and scoring in double figures in 13 of the Jaspers’ first 16 contests. Scoring 18 points and 19 points in her first two home games against Rhode Island and FDU, the Bronx, NY native crossed the 1,000 career point threshold against Navy on November 30. Over 400 of those points have come during her time at Manhattan. She also averages just over a steal along with 2.4 assists and 3.3 rebounds a night as of 1/16. With four other players averaging seven or more points around her, Davis is surrounded by a complimentary offense that allows her to flourish without facing a high degree of pressure. NOTABLE ALUMNI Suiting up from 1980-1984, Sheila Tighe is arguably the most distinguished player in the history of the Lady Jaspers. Scoring 2,412 career points, her all-time total is the highest ever by any Manhattan University basketball player, male or female. A two-time MAAC Player of the Year, the Staten Island, NY native established eight Jasper records, including most points in a game (45) along with most points in a season (730). Her numbers in 1984 helped her earn an All-American selection as well. Her nightly average in 1982-83 was 25.2 points a night off an average of 10 made field goals a contest.
