PLAYER TO WATCH Redshirt senior captain guard Lexie Tarul has developed into one of the MAAC’s premier perimeter threats and a key leader for the Red Foxes. After spending her freshman season at Fordham, Tarul transferred to Marist and quickly developed into the Red Foxes’ primary outside scoring threat. She earned All-MAAC Third Team as a junior after leading the team in three-pointers made and logging the third-most three pointers per game in the MAAC [2.2 per game] This season, Tarul was named Preseason All-MAAC Second Team and currently leads Marist in scoring at 12.3 points per game, while also averaging over five rebounds per game (5.4). She paces the team in 3-pointers made and ranks among the MAAC leaders in 3-pointers per game. Tarul has posted multiple standout performances, including a 24-point outing with six 3-pointers against Binghamton and 22 points with four triples in a win over Rider, solidifying her role as one of the league’s most dangerous shooters. basketball team from 2007-10, and she played on NCAA Tournament teams in all four seasons of her career. As a freshman, Fitz was the leading scorer and rebounder for the first MAAC basketball team – women’s or men’s – to reach the Sweet Sixteen. After being named MAAC Rookie of the Year that season, she was honored as MAAC Player of the Year in her final three seasons. She was named an Honorable Mention All-American by The Associated Press as a junior and senior. She earned a CoSIDA Academic All America honor and MAAC Student-Athlete of the Year as a senior. Fitz is Marist’s all-time leader in points (2,447) and rebounds (1,066), and she is the only player in program history to have her number retired. HEAD COACH ERIN DOUGHTY Erin Doughty enters her third season as the head coach of the women’s basketball team for the 2025-26 season. This season is her 24th year of association with the Marist women’s basketball program, which previously includes time as a student-athlete, student assistant coach, assistant coach, associate head coach, and head coach. In her second season at the helm, Doughty coached the team to 16 wins on the season and 11 in MAAC play, more than doubling the program’s total in both categories from the season prior. With 11 MAAC wins, the Red Foxes earned the No. 5 seed in the MAAC Championship, earning a bye into the Quarterfinals. In her first season, Doughty earned six wins and coached senior Zaria Shazer to All-MAAC status for the second consecutive season. In Doughty’s five-year tenure as associate head coach, she helped guide the Red Foxes to a MAAC championship in 2021. In the 2020-21 season, Marist was 18-4 with a 13-3 MAAC record, securing the program’s 13th MAAC regular season championship. As the No. 1 seed, the Red Foxes then won their 11th MAAC Championship in program history. Marist earned a 15-seed in the NCAA Tournament, playing Louisville in the first round. Doughty was named to the Hudson Valley’s Top Forty Under 40 as announced by the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce in 2024. Doughty earned her Bachelor’s degree from Marist in 2006 and her Master’s in 2008.
