PLAYER TO WATCH Xavier Lipscomb is in his fourth season with the Mountaineers and has flourished in the starting point guard role for the past two years. In addition to his play on the court, “X” has played the role of team leader for the Mount as well. This season, he has contributed more to the scoring output while continuing to dish out assists. As of mid-January, the graduate student averages double figures while maintaining pace of four assists per game. The point guard was originally recruited to play for Radford, where current Mount head coach Donny Lind was an assistant at the time. Last year, he reunited with Lind and the duo played integral roles as the Mount captured it’s first ever MAAC Tournament Championship. NOTABLE ALUMNI Fred Carter C’69 averaged 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Mount during his four-year tenure under Coach Jim Phelan. He remains third all-time in points (1,840), eighth in rebounding (910) and fourth in field goals made (731). Recruited to Emmitsburg in 1965, he was the first African-American student to enroll at the college. Carter parlayed his collegiate success into an eight-year NBA career, playing for the Baltimore Bullets, Philadelphia 76ers, and the Milwaukee Bucks. He returned to his alma mater in 1978 to coach the women’s basketball team, earning a 60-32 record, and later served as Head Coach for the 76ers in 1993-94. Carter is a 1979 inductee for the Mount St. Mary’s Athletics Hall of Fame.

Head Coach: Donny Lind – Second Season Assistant Coaches: Keith Chesley – Second Season, David Matturro – Fourth Season, Jeremy Freeman – Sixth Season, Sidy Sall – Second Season General Manager: Andrew Winton – Third Season

HEAD COACH DONNY LIND Donny Lind, hired as the 23 rd head coach in the Mount’s men’s basketball history, made an immediate mark on the program as the 2024-25 team captured the university's first MAAC championship. They would notch a NCAA Tournament victory - the program's third - by defeating American in the First Four. The 23 wins by the team set a Division I record and were the most by any Mount St. Mary's squad since 1986-87. Lind was hired as the 23 rd head coach in men's basketball program history in April of 2024. An assistant coach at University of North Carolina Greensboro the previous several years, Lind brings tremendous energy along with an up-tempo offense and defense to Emmitsburg. The 2024-25 season was a magical one for the Mountaineer, knocking off Marist and Merrimack to advance to the MAAC Championship game against Iona. The Mount came through with a 63-49 victory for the school’s first MAAC title, securing the Mount’s seventh trip to the NCAA Division I Tournament.
