PLAYER TO WATCH Winston is amid his third season with the Green and White and paces the Jaspers in numerous categories including points-per-game, steals, and assists on the season. The South Laurel, MD native sits third in program history with 172 total steals and counting. Earlier in non-conference play, Winston registered a career-high 29 points in the effort at USC on November 9th. Against Fairfield in the MAAC opener on December 5, Winston showed his defensive prowess with a career-high six steals in the victory over the Stags inside Draddy Gymnasium. As a Jasper, Winston has started and played in every game to this point in mid-January and has nearly doubled his point output per-game, where he’s averaging 15.3 points-per-game, with the most points scored in a single season for the Mid-Atlantic native. Last season to open 2024-25, Winston was named as a Preseason All-MAAC Third Teamer. NOTABLE ALUMNI John "Jack" Powers is a name that has been synonymous with New York City college basketball since the late 1950's. In his three years on the court for Manhattan, he twice led the Jaspers to the NCAA tournament and the NIT. In 2012, Powers was recognized at the First Annual MAAC Honor Roll Dinner and at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. He was enshrined in "The MAAC Experience," the league's exhibit. On February 26, 2016, Powers became the first Jasper to have his uniform number retired. His #34 was raised to the rafters on 'Jack Powers Night 'at halftime of the Manhattan vs. Iona game at Draddy Gymnasium.
