PLAYER TO WATCH Adebayo, a Preseason All-MAAC selection, is the among the MAAC leaders in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage. He scored 20 or more points three times in a four-game stretch in January, and leads the Mountaineers in double figure scoring games. A versatile post player, he had 15 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four blocks in the Mount’s home win over Fairfield. He is one of six players in NCAA Division I this season to post 15+ points, 9+ rebounds, 5+ assists and 4+ blocks in a game. Adebayo hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer to lift the Mount to a 73-71 win over Sacred Heart at Knott Arena. NOTABLE ALUMNI Fred Carter, who went on to play eight years in the National Basketball Association (NBA), is fourth all-time on the Mount’s scoring list with 1,840 career points. The first African-American resident student at the Mount, Carter averaged 21.9 points and 11.0 rebounds in 84 career games at Mount St. Mary’s. Carter later coached the Mount’s women’s basketball team for three seasons. Nicknamed Mad Dog, Carter was selected in the third round ofthe 1969 NBA Draft by the Baltimore Bullets. He played eight seasons in the league, scoring 9,271 career points while playing for the Bullets, the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Milwaukee Bucks. Carter went on to coach the 76ers from 1992-94. HEAD COACH DONNY LIND Donny Lind was named the 23 rd head coach in Mount St. Mary’s history on April 20. He made an immediate impact on the Mountaineers, guiding the team to its most non-conference wins in a season since joining NCAA Division I in 1988-89. Lind, who has been successful at every stop, brings tremendous energy along with an up-tempo offense and defense. Prior to the Mount, Lind served on coaching staffs at both Radford and UNCG under head coach Mike Jones. Radford won back-to-back Big South regular season titles in 2018-19 and 2019-20 during his tenure in Virginia. He also helped the Highlanders win the 2017-18 Big South Tournament, leading to a First Four win over LIU Brooklyn for the program's first NCAA Tournament win. He was an assistant coach at Mount St. Mary’s from 2013-16 under Jamion Christian.
