TELEVISION IN-GAME PRODUCTION ELEMENTS

1. Access to pre-game and locker rooms Each team shall provide ESPN access to the pregame locker room during the 30 minutes lead ing up to the start of the contest for a look-in for use during the game broadcast. Specifically: All teams playing in games that are part of the conference’s contractual agreement with ESPN, specifically those in the league’s ESPN2 and ESPNU package, will grant ESPN pregame and postgame lockerroom access. The head coach or designee will determine a three-to-five-minute window that ESPN may enter the lockerroom during the 30-minute pregame countdown. For pregame, ESPN will collect footage of the coach’s pep talk as well as candid shots of key players. ESPN will only utilize the postgame access for the winning team’s celebration. In addition, a designated conference or school official may preapprove the material before air. All access will be administered through ESPN’s on-site producer and the host institution’s Sports Information Director. 2. Head Coach Interviews The head coach from the home team will be interviewed at the under 12 media timeout for men’s basketball broadcasts and after the 1st quarter for women’s basketball broadcasts during the first half. The head coach of the visiting team will be interviewed at the under 12 media timeout for men’s basketball broadcasts and after the 1st quarter for women’s basketball broadcasts of the second half. 3. Student-athlete interviews at halftime Immediately following the conclusion of the first half, both the home and visiting teams shall have one participating student athlete interviewed going into the halftime break. The halftime clock will not begin until both student athletes have finished interviewing. The interviews will be live to tape and the MAAC New Media Director of Broadcasting and ESPN crew will review the interview prior to airing. The home team player interview will air following the first commercial break of half time. Immediately prior to the start of the second half, the visiting player interview will air. Identification of the student athlete to be interviewed will be determined prior to halftime through the MAAC and the participating schools. 4. Post-game interviews Immediately following the end of the game, the winning coach and one winning player (usually the Player of the Game) will be interviewed on court. The MAAC and the institution’s Sports Information Director will work to with the conference liaison in the ESPN truck to coordinate the interview. RAFT
