PLAYER TO WATCH In her final season for the Jaspers, Nitzan Amar has solidified her legacy running the point for the Jaspers. A native of Yiron, Israel, as of late January, Amar leads the Jaspers in scoring at 10.8 points-per-game and paces the team with assists at 5.53 helpers-per-game. Not only the most consistent player for Manhattan, Amar has left everything out on the court this season while also battling injuries. Amar registered a career-high 10 assists in a 16-point home victory vs. Merrimack on January 11. The nifty point guard also tallied 11 points to secure the first double-double of her career. As of late January, Amar is tied for 19 th nationally in assists per game with an average of over 5 dishes-per-game. Possessing a knack for scoring at all three levels, Amar will look to lead the Jaspers to a postseason berth this March and a spot in the MAAC Championship Game for the third time in the last four seasons. Amar and the Jaspers are chasing a long-elusive MAAC Championship that hasn’t occurred since 2003. NOTABLE ALUMNI Manhattan retired the number of Sheila Tighe on November 10, 2019. Tighe, Manhattan's all-time leading scorer across both basketball programs, is the second alumnus to have their jersey hung from the rafters of Draddy Gymnasium. Tighe scored 2,412 points in four seasons. She estab lished eight Lady Jasper records, including most points in a game (45) and in a season (730). A two-time MAAC Player of the Year honoree, Tighe received All-American accolades in 1984.
