PLAYER TO WATCH Taking a leap in nearly every statistical category this season, senior Cur’Tiera Haywood has emerged as a leader for the Bobcats. Leading the team in scoring through the first half of the season, Haywood has found her footing as a scorer, reaching double-digit scoring totals in 11 of Quinnipiac’s first 16 games. Not just scoring consistently, Haywood has been efficient as well, ranking among the top qualifiers in the MAAC in field-goal percentage and three-point field-goal percentage. NOTABLE ALUMNI After graduating in May 2019 with 538 points, 231 assists, 130 steals and three MAAC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances with the Bobcats, Edel Thornton returned home to Ireland to play professionally. Since returning home, Thornton rejoined Team Ireland and is now currently serving as the Irish National Team’s senior captain. In three games at the 2022 European Championships, Thornton averaged 9.7 points, 3.3 assists and 3.0 steals per game for Team Ireland.

PLAYER TO WATCH The Bobcats’ point guard has hit the ground running during his first two seasons in Hamden. Jones played in all 31 games for QU in 2021-22, making 29 total starts. He averaged 11.5 PPG, 3.1 RPG and 3.0 APG on 47.4% shooting. Jones recorded 20 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists in the MAAC Opening Round vs. Marist (3/8/22) in Atlantic City. The junior is averaging double-digit point totals again in 2022-23 for the Bobcats. He’s scored 10+ points in 19 of 21 games thus far (as of Feb. 24, 2023). NOTABLE ALUMNI Cameron Young – the former Quinnipiac AP All American/2018-19 MAAC Player of the Year – joined NBA G League Ignite ahead of the 2022-23 season. He’s averaging 16.4 PPG on 46.2% shooting so far with the program, adding 2.7 RPG and 1.6 APG. Young filled up the scoring sheet for the Memphis Hustle and the Cleveland Charge in 2021-22, averaging 14.7 PPG in Memphis over 18 games and 17.7 PPG for Cleveland over 13 games. Young recorded a MAAC-best 23.5 points (No. 12 nationally) to go along with 5.1 rebounds per game, shooting 48.2 percent from the field and 43.7 percent from three-point distance as a graduate student for the Bobcats in 2018-19. He scored a Quinnipiac Division I single-season record 728 total points, breaking his own record (622) from 2017-18.

HEAD COACH BAKER DUNLEAVY Baker Dunleavy is in his sixth season as Head Coach of the Bobcats in 2022-23. Dunleavy – who was the associate head coach for a national-title winning team at Villanova in 2016 – has led Quinnipiac to two MAAC Semifinals appearances over his first five seasons with the program. Most recently, the 2021-22 Bobcats became the first-ever No. 11 seed in MAAC Tournament history to advance to the semifinal round. Dunleavy’s father, Mike, enjoyed a long NBA coaching career, including stops with the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers. Baker's older brother, Mike Jr., had a 16-year NBA career (most recently with the Atlanta Hawks) after winning a national title in college with Duke in 2001. Mike Jr. is currently the Assistant General Manager for the Golden State Warriors, while Mike Sr. last served as Head Coach at Tulane from 2016-19.
HEAD COACH TRICIA FABBRI The all-time winningest coach in Quinnipiac women’s basketball history, Tricia Fabbri, wrapped up her 27 th season on the Bobcats’ sideline in 2021-22 and boasts over 500 wins in her career. At the end of the 2018-19 season, Fabbri had guided her team to eight straight 20-win seasons including four undefeated conference slates in seven years. The team won its fifth conference title in a seven-year span with the 2018-19 MAAC tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament as an 11-seed before falling to sixth-seeded South Dakota State at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York. As a player, Fabbri was named to the MAAC 25 th Anniversary Team in 2020 and was inducted into the Fairfield University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998, as well as the Connecticut Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002.
