PLAYER TO WATCH Making her fourth stop in her career, Young brings a wealth of talent and knowledge to the Siena Women’s Basketball program. The graduate student has led the Saints in scoring and assists throughout the season, leading as a team captain as well. The Berlin, NJ native’s scoring has also been at the top of the MAAC throughout the season, giving the Saints an impact point guard that can score or distribute the ball. Young has also made appearances at Power 5 programs in both Syracuse and Florida in her career. NOTABLE ALUMNI Melanie Halker Moore starred for the Siena Women’s Basketball program from 1995–1999. She is Siena’s all-time leading rebounder with 1,122 and is second as an all-time leading scorer with 2,021. She was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Year in both 1998 and 1999. She is the only player in school history to record 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. Moore left Siena and began a professional career in Luxembourg and Israel. Once she returned to the United States she began a long and successful coaching career, which has led her to being named women’s basketball head coach at Xavier University prior to the 2019–20 season. Prior to joining the Musketeers, Moore spent seven seasons at Michigan, helping the Wolverines to three NCAA Tournament appearances.

HEAD COACH ALI JAQUES In eight seasons, Ali Jaques has put Siena Women’s Basketball back on the map. Under her leadership, the Saints entered the 2020–21 season ready to take on the MAAC after placing sixth and winning a contest in the MAAC Tournament during the 2019–20 season. Under Jaques’ leadership, Siena embarked in a five-game winning streak from January 23–February 8, 2020, which coincided with the program’s first-ever win against conference heavyweight Quinnipiac in Hamden, Connecticut. Under her guidance, Siena became the first school in MAAC history to win three games in a national postseason tournament and advance to the championship game of the Women’s Basketball Invitational. The Saints also defeated Big East foe Xavier in the quarterfinals in Cincinnati by 20 points, marking the program’s largest margin of victory ever over a current member of one of the six major conferences.
