Named to both the 2020–21 Lute Olson Award (Top Division I Player) and Lou Henson Award (Top Division I Mid-Major Player) Preseason Watch Lists, Pickett was ranked the 61st best player in Division I by HoopChain and 99 th by CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander entering the 2020-21 season. HEAD COACH CARMEN MACIARIELLO It’s taken Siena Basketball alumnus Carmen Maciariello ’01 less than two years to restore his alma mater to prominence. The native of nearby Clifton Park, New York helped guide the Saints to the 11th best turnaround nationally as an assistant coach in 2018–19, before taking the reins and leading Siena to both a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championship in his first season as head coach in 2019–20. Named the 18 th head coach in Siena Men’s Basketball history on March 25, 2019, the now 42-year-old Maciariello achieved an unprecedented first season leading the Saints. Siena posted a 20-10 overall record including a stellar 15-5 record in the MAAC, culminating with the program’s eighth MAAC Regular Season Championship while also being awarded its sixth MAAC Tournament Title. The only of the 61 new Division I head coaching hires during the 2019–20 season to lead his team to an outright conference regular season championship, Maciariello was named one of the “Top-12 Most Immediately Successful Hires of the 2019–20 Season” by CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander.
