PLAYER TO WATCH Quinnipiac sophomore forward Mikala Morris has not just been one of the best players for the Bobcats this season, she has been one of the best players in the MAAC. The Springfield, Ohio native is among the conference leaders in multiple stats. She is top ten in the conference in points, rebounds, and blocks per game. She ranks first among Quinnipiac players in all three categories and has been named MAAC Player of the Week twice this season. Morris has grabbed double-digit rebounds in more than half of her games this season, including a career-high 18 against Saint Peter’s, and 17 against Manhattan. She also scored 25 points at Manhattan, a new career- high, and has recorded six double-doubles this season, which is good enough for top-50 in the country. NOTABLE ALUMNI Edel Thornton had a stand-out season as the Trinity Meteors claimed the Division I title to secure promotion to the Irish Super League for the 2021 season. Thornton finished the season averaging 15.7 points per game along with six assists, six rebounds, and 5.3 rebounds per game. Her performances were a key factor in the Meteor’s dominating season. Her consistent performances and unwavering work-ethic saw her pick up several Player of the Week honors and she was also awarded the Division I Player of the Year award at the end of the season. Thornton was also named NBCC College Division I Player of the Year for her play with Trinity College Dublin and will be a member of the Irish international squad at the 2021 FIBA Women’s European Championship for Small Countries.
