PLAYER TO WATCH Junior forward Lucy Thomas was named to the 2020–21 Preseason All-MAAC Second Team. In her first two seasons, she averaged 9.5 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game. As a freshman, she was named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team. A native of Ocean, NJ, Thomas compiled nine double- doubles in her first two years. In a win over Manhattan last season, she dropped a career-high 22 points and 13 rebounds, including the game-winning shot with 4.2 seconds left in overtime. NOTABLE ALUMNI In September, former Monmouth University women’s basketball forward Alexa Middleton ’20 was named to the 2020–21 Sport Changes Life Foundation (SCLF) Victory Scholar Program. Middleton will head to the Cork Institute of Technology in Cork, Ireland to study International Business. Scholars will continue playing, work in the wider community with young people, and gain valuable work experience through internships and mentoring with local businesses. Middleton is one of two players in program history to compile at least 895 points and 895 rebounds. She compiled 19 double-doubles throughout her four years in West Long Branch, and scored in double-figures on 34 occasions. Her 124 games played is tied for second most in program history.

HEAD COACH JODY CRAIG Jody Craig joined the Monmouth Women’s Basketball staff in June 2017, and assumed head coaching responsibilities on December 8, 2017. In 2019–20, Craig led Monmouth to its seventh consecutive MAAC Quarterfinals appearance. The Hawks ended the season ranked 35 th in the nation for scoring defense, allowing just 57.5 points per game. During her first full season in 2018–19, Craig led the Hawks to their highest-ever MAAC finish (4 th ). Monmouth accumulated a 9-9 MAAC record and advanced to the MAAC Semifinals for the second time in six seasons. Craig brings 20 years of collegiate coaching experience to West Long Branch. As a head coach at Foothill College in California, she compiled a 448-164 record, including a 148-36 record over her final five years.
