PLAYER TO WATCH Senior captain Willow Duffell has played over 100 career games in her tenure as a Red Fox. A 2020 Preseason All-MAAC Third Team selection, she has improved in multiple statistical categories through the first dozen games of the season, including points per game, rebounds per game, assists per game, minutes per game, and free throw percentage. She set multiple career bests when she dropped 18 points and 17 rebounds at Quinnipiac on Jan. 4 only to shatter the former statistic when she exploded for 27 points in Marist’s win over Niagara on Jan. 22. The Harriman, New York native was a member of the 2018 All-MAAC Rookie Team. Off the court, Duffell is a two-time MAAC All-Academic Team selection studying Applied Mathematics. NOTABLE ALUMNI Julianne Viani-Braen is one of Marist’s most celebrated women’s basketball players. Viani-Braen was a starter for the Red Foxes when they became the MAAC’s first women’s basketball team to reach the NCAA Sweet Sixteen in 2007. She scored 1,447 points in her collegiate careers, and is one of the top three-point shooters in program history. Viani-Braen is now a sportscaster who has covered games on ESPN, CBS, Big Ten Network, Pac-12 Network, NBA NextVR, MSG, and YES. She was inducted into the MAAC Honor Roll in the 2013–14 season.
