PLAYER TO WATCH Junior Jo Raflo has further established her presence in Emmitsburg in her second year with the team. Through the month of January, she guided the program by leading the Mountaineers in scoring and consistently registering in the top 100 nationwide for three-pointers per contest. The Gainesville, Virginia native transferred to the team following her freshman year at Presbyterian. As of late January, the 5-11 guard is encroaching on 500 points scored and 50 games played and is on pace to reach the top 10 all-time for blocks in a career, after tallying the seventh most all-time for a Mount player in a single season. NOTABLE ALUMNI Susie Rowlyk, a 1995 Mount St. Mary’s graduate and 2006 Athletics Hall of Fame Inductee, is one of two players to have their jersey retired and raised in the rafters at Knott Arena. She is a two-time Northeast Conference Player of the Year (1993-94, 1994-95) and the NEC Tournament Most Valuable Player for 1993-94. A two-time NEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Rowlyk was named to the 20th and 25th Women’s Basketball Anniversary Teams. At the Mount, she piloted teams to three conference titles and the team’s first NCAA Tournament appearances. She stands 7th on the all-time list for scoring (1,502 points), and remains in the record books for several categories, including the all-time leader for free throws (425).
