PLAYER TO WATCH Jade Blagrove has had a standout senior campaign. The forward from Netherlands has started every game she’s appeared in. She’s posted over 10 double digit scoring games, including three double-doubles. On the defensive front, she’s one of the top rebounders on the team with seven double digit rebound games. She has expanded her game, hitting shots outside the paint, as well as driving down low to make her a multidimensional player. NOTABLE ALUMNI Manhattan Athletics retired the number of former women's basketball player Sheila Tighe in a ceremony on November 10, 2019. Tighe, Manhattan's all-time leading scorer across both the men's and women's basketball programs, is only the second alumnus to have their jersey hung from the rafters of Draddy Gymnasium, after former player, coach and athletic director Jack Powers had his number retired in 2016. Tighe scored 2,412 career points in her four years at Manhattan. She established eight Lady Jasper records, including most points in one game (45) and in one season (730). A two-time MAAC Player of the Year honoree, Tighe was also named Northeast Player of the Year and received All-American accolades in 1984. Now a film producer, Tighe lives in Los Angeles and runs City Films, a marketing communications company she founded that specializes in hi-end HD video production, post-production, editorial, graphics, trailers, corporate meetings and presentations. She has line produced and/or executive produced hundreds of commercial spots around the world for such major brands as Coke, Pepsi, NASCAR, Gillette, Home Depot, McDonalds, IBM, Heineken and many more.

NOTABLE ALUMNI John "Jack" Powers is a name that has been
synonymous with New York City college basketball since the late 1950's. In his three years on the court for Manhattan College, he led the Jaspers to the NCAA tournament twice and the NIT once. Powers’ post-season appearances include defeating nationally ranked West Virginia and Jerry West in the 1958 NCAA Tournament. He was the Jaspers' captain his senior year while concluding his collegiate career with 1,139 points. Powers returned to his alma mater in 1968 as the Manhattan Jaspers head coach. In his ten years at the helm, Powers' teams went 142–114, won the 1973 ECAC Holiday Festival and appeared in the NIT four times. After his coaching days were over, Jack was named Manhattan's Director of Athletics, a position he held for nine years. During that time, Jasper athletics experienced tremendous growth in both the men's and women's programs.
HEAD COACH JOHN GALLAGHER John Gallagher was named head coach at Manhattan College on Mar. 29, 2023. Gallagher most recently served as the Head Coach at the University of Hartford where he led the Hawks to the NCAA Tournament in 2021. Gallagher was the head coach at Hartford from 2010-2022, during which he accumulated 169 wins, including 15 wins during the pandemic shortened 2020-2021 season in which the Hawks won the America East Tournament and earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Gallagher led Hartford to two other postseason tournaments during his tenure. Prior to Hartford, Gallagher served as an assistant coach at Boston College, the University of Pennsylvania, Hartford, Lafayette College and LaSalle University.
HEAD COACH HEATHER VULIN Manhattan College Head Coach Heather Vulin enters her eighth season with the Jaspers in 2023-24. Known as a tenacious and tireless recruiter with over 20 years of coaching experience, she was named the eighth head coach in program history on April 25, 2016. With a talented roster from top to bottom, the 2022-23 squad had multiple threats on offense and were able to use that to their advantage down the stretch. The Jaspers found themselves in the 2023 MAAC Tournament championship game for the second year in a row after a 10-10 MAAC regular season mark and sixth place finish. In the classroom, the Jaspers were named a Top 25 WBCA All-Academic Team for their GPA. Dee Dee Davis earned Second-Team All-MAAC honors and was named Second-Team All-Met for the second straight year. The 2021-2022 campaign saw Vulin continue to build on the team’s successes in the previous two years. She led the Jaspers to a 21-11 record, the most wins in a single season since the 2010-2011 season, and the team’s third straight winning season, including a 14-6 record in MAAC play.
