PLAYER TO WATCH One of the Mount’s top scorers since the day she played her first game in November 2018, Michaela Harrison has rewritten the record books in terms of scoring at the school. The Cleveland, Ohio native stands top five in scoring with over 1,700 points donning the blue & white jerseys of the Mountaineers. At over 300 three-pointers, Harrison stands alone as having the most in school history, men’s or women's. She also hits her free throws, ranking in the top three for foul shot percentage. Harrison is dependable to be on the floor, competing in the game and being able to score. Having already earned the school record for most starts, she played in the program’s best 128 th game in January of this year. NOTABLE ALUMNI Vanessa Blair-Lewis is one of two Mount St. Mary’s women’s basketball players to have her jersey, #24, hoisted to the rafters of Knott Arena. A member of the Class of 1992, Vanessa maintains the school record in blocks at 242. She stands third in career rebounds (849), seventh in steals (241) and is ninth all-time in scoring (1,488). Recognized as the Northeast Conference Player of the Decade in 1996, Blair-Lewis earned placement on the conference’s 20th and 25th Women’s Basketball Anniversary teams and was twice named Player of the Year. Continuing to maintain a presence in the sport as a coach, Blair-Lewis leads the George Mason Patriots after stints at her alma mater and at Bethune-Cookman where her Wildcats won the MEAC Championship and a trip to the WNIT.

PLAYER TO WATCH Malik Jefferson is in the final season of his storied Mount St. Mary’s career. The 6-9 forward is the school’s all-time rebounder in the NCAA Division I era while also eclipsing 1,000 career points. Among the all-time leaders in games played, he also set the school’s Division I mark with 20 rebounds at American during his freshman season. Jefferson helped guide the Mountaineers to the 2021 Northeast Conference title and a spot in the NCAA Tournament. He recorded 10 points and 15 rebounds in the NEC title game victory at Bryant. Among the Mount’s top five in career field goal percentage, he has averaged nine points and seven rebounds in over 125 career games played. NOTABLE ALUMNI Fred Carter, who went on to play eight years in the National Basketball Association (NBA), is fourth all-time on the Mount’s scoring list with 1,840 career points. The first African-American resident student at the Mount, Carter averaged 21.9 points and 11.0 rebounds in 84 career games at Mount St. Mary’s. Carter later coached the Mount’s women’s basketball team for three seasons. Nicknamed Mad Dog, Carter was selected in the third round of the 1969 NBA Draft by the Baltimore Bullets. He played eight seasons in the league, scoring 9,271 career points while playing for the Bullets, the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Milwaukee Bucks. Carter went on to coach the 76ers from 1992-94. Carter’s #33 is among five numbers retired by the Mount.

HEAD COACH ANTONINE WHITE Antoine White was named the seventh head coach of the Mount St. Mary's women's basketball program on March 30, 2021. In his first season, he guided an already accomplished team to another successful campaign. After securing a third-place finish in the regular season, the Mountaineers won three straight games in the Northeast Conference Tournament to advance to their second straight NCAA Tournament. One of the inaugural First Four teams in the women's tournament, they battled from being 22 points down in a near-comeback against the Longwood Lancers. White graduated in May of 2016 from Southern Vermont College in Bennington, Vt., where he rounded out his career as the Mountaineers’ all-time career assists leader with 242 in 59 games. White was a three-year team captain at SVC, helping guide his squad to an ECAC Championship in 2015 and NECC Championship in 2016. Prior to his time at Southern Vermont, White worked as the head JV coach and assistant varsity coach at his alma mater, Walt Whitman High School, in Bethesda, Maryland.

HEAD COACH DAN ENGELSTAD Dan Engelstad was named the 22 nd coach in Mount St. Mary’s history in 2018, and it did not take long for him to make his mark on the program. Engelstad guided the Mountaineers to the Northeast Conference title and a spot in the NCAA Tournament in his third season at the helm of the program. Engelstad is in his fifth season as the Mount’s head coach. Engelstad, a former assistant coach at the Mount under Dan Engelstad from 2007-10, arrived at the Mount from a successful five-year stint as the head coach at Southern Vermont College (SVC) in Bennington, Vermont. Engelstad led a remarkable turnaround at SVC, posting a 104-34 (.754) record where he was named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Coach of the Year three times. He helped guide the program to a pair of NECC titles, including the program’s first-ever in 2016.
