PLAYER TO WATCH Rayshel Brown has been a consistent body for the Siena Saints the last three seasons, with her career culminating in a solid 2021–22 season. Ranking among the league’s top scorers throughout the season, Brown leads a Siena team that has excelled as one of the top MAAC squads on defense. The Staten Island, New York native was a Preseason All-MAAC selection, and has proven herself to that standard this season as Siena has topped multiple top teams in the league throughout the regular season. Originally a transfer from La Salle, Brown has found her home in Loudonville with career- best numbers from behind the arc and free throw line this season. NOTABLE ALUMNI Gunta Basko starred for the Saints from 1999–00 through 2002–03, helping re-write the Siena record book. She stands third all-time on the program’s scoring list with 1,833 points, while ranking second all-time in rebounding with 1,027 and 12 th in assists with 322. She was twice named Kodak District II All-American in 2002 and 2003, taking home MAAC Player of the Year honors in 2000–01 and 2001–02. She also earned MAAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2001–02, while earning multiple All-MAAC selections and Player of the Week honors. She wouldhelpguide theSaints to their loneMAACChampionship in2000–01. After departing Siena, Basko has enjoyed a long and successful career playing overseas. She is still active, currently playing in Latvia.

PLAYER TO WATCH Cal Poly transfer Colby Rogers has emerged as Siena’s top-scoring threat in his first season donning the Green and Gold. As of Feb. 15 th , the junior guard was the Saints’ leading scorer, while also ranking amongst the national leaders in both three-point field goal percentage and threes per game. Rogers was the second-leading scorer in each of his two seasons with the Mustangs, averaging 10.0 points over 26.0 minutes in 49 games (25 starts). Rogers led Roselle Catholic (NJ) to a 28-4 record and No. 17 ranking in the USA Today Super-25 National Poll his senior season, while averaging 12.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists while shooting 63.8% from the field. NOTABLE ALUMNI The all-time leading scorer in Siena Basketball history with 2,284 career points, Marc Brown ’91 was inducted into the 2017 MAAC Hall of Fame Honor Roll. Brown led Siena to three national postseason tournament appearances, highlighted by the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 1989, and which culminated with a First Round upset of Stanford. He was named the 1991 MAAC Player of the Year and a First Team All-MAAC and All-MAAC Tournament Team selection in each of Siena’s first two seasons in the conference. A 1998 Siena Athletics Hall of Fame inductee who played 15 years professionally overseas, Brown has spent more than a decade as the head coach at Division III New Jersey City University.

HEAD COACH JIM JABIR Jim Jabir has returned to Loudonville to once again lead the Siena Women’s Basketball program. A finalist for the 2013 Naismith National Coach of the Year Award, the Brooklyn, New York native has led his programs to eight NCAA Tournament berths highlighted by a 2015 Elite Eight appearance, while amassing 514 wins. The 58-year-old Jabir has previously led the Siena Women’s Basketball program for three seasons (1987–90), while also having served as the head coach at Florida Atlantic University (2017–21), University of Dayton (2003–16), Providence College (1996–02), Marquette University (1990–96), and Division III Buffalo State College (1986–87). Jabir returns to the Capital Region following a four-year stint at Florida Atlantic where he took the Owls to unprecedented success in Conference USA. The Owls capped the season by securing the program’s first-ever C-USA Tournament win, which marked Jabir’s milestone 500 th Division I head coaching victory.

HEAD COACH CARMEN MACIARIELLO In just two short seasons, Siena Men’s Basketball alumnus Carmen Maciariello ’01 restored his alma mater to prominence. The native of nearby Clifton Park, New York directed the Saints to at least a share of back-to-back Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Regular Season Championships in each of his first two seasons at the helm, while achieving a 32-15 (.681) overall record including a stellar 27-9 (.750) mark in MAAC action during that time. Maciariello was promoted to be the 18 th head coach in Siena Men’s Basketball history on March 25, 2019, after having served the previous season as an assistant coach in his second stint with the program. He tied Mike Deane for the second best 47-game head coaching start in Siena’s storied history (Paul Hewitt: 33-14), and was tied for the fourth fastest coach in MAAC history to reach 30 overall wins (43 games). Additionally, Maciariello developed a pair of different MAAC Player of the Year honorees in his first two seasons as head coach, with Jalen Pickett (2019–20) and Manny Camper (2020–21) each earning acclaim.
