PLAYER TO WATCH Juana Camilion, a 2020–21 Preseason All-MAAC First Team honoree, has been an important part of Iona’s success throughout the season. The junior guard fromPalma de Mallorca, Spain has impressed on both ends of the floor this season, but specifically on the defensive end. Camilion found herself ranked inside the top-10 nationally in steals in the early portion of the season and was an integral part of Iona being inside the top-25 nationally in scoring defense early on. In three career MAAC Championship games, Camilion is averaging 13.3 points per game. Her best postseason performance, a 26-point effort, came in 2019 when the Gaels upset the seventh seeded Siena Saints in the opening round of the 2018–19 MAAC Championship. Earlier this season, Camilion moved inside the top-50 of Iona’s all-time scoring list. NOTABLE ALUMNI Maggie Timoney ’89, ’92 MBA was a four-year standout for the Maroon & Gold. She ranks third on Iona’s all-time scoring list with 1,894 career points. Timoney ranks in the top five in categories including field goals made, three-point field goal percentage, free throw attempts and made, and games played. As a freshman, Timoney was named the 1986 MAAC Rookie of the Year. After graduation, Timoney served for two years as a graduate assistant coach with Iona from 1989–91. She is currently the CEO for Heineken Ireland, the first female ever to hold the prestigious position with the company. She also serves as a Board of Trustee member for Iona College.
